Terry Funk wants to Feel Like a Dirty, Stinky, Greasy Florida Cracker (Championship Wrestling from Florida: 1981)

Wrestling history is filled with memorable promos and one of my favorite (and the most insane) is Terry Funk’s infamous “Florida Cracker” promo from Championship Wrestling from Florida in 1981.

Hearing that Jerry “The King” Lawler wants to become a real Floridian, Terry decides that he wants to know how it feels to be a real “Florida cracker,” himself. How does he accomplish this? By dousing himself with a gallon of Quaker State motor oil and covering himself in dirt, of course.

I don’t think getting that shit in your mouth and eyes is advisable, but The Funker never really erred on the side of caution. He would go on to challenge Lawler to a match where, if Funk won, he would cover “The King” in oil and dirt, himself. This is real rasslin’.
