Terry Funk, Leatherface and Shoji Nakamaki vs. Cactus Jack and The Headhunters (Bridge of Dreams: April 2, 1995)
Not the type of match you would expect to see on a big show at the Tokyo Dome, but this event was unique. Put on by Japan’s biggest pro wrestling magazine, Weekly Pro Wrestling, Bridge of Dreams – Dome Spring Full Bloom featured matches from 13 different promotions.
What do you do to stand out in front of 50,000 fans on a show featuring a wide variety of talent and promotions? If you’re IWA Japan, you deploy this band of misfits for a Barbed Wire Board and Barbed Wire Baseball Bat Bunkhouse Death Match. Say that quickly three times in a row.
It’s messy and drags a little – as matches like this tend to be and do – but it’s worth it to see The Headhunters squash Nakamaki over and over again. I believe this is the only time Cactus ever wrestled in the Tokyo Dome, as well. Just an interesting piece of wrestling history here.
