Kerry Von Erich vs. Terry Gordy (WCCW: May 7, 1984)

Kerry Von Erich makes his first defense of the NWA World Heavyweight Championship one night after defeating Ric Flair for the title at Texas Stadium in the main event of World Class’ 1st Von Erich Memorial Parade of Champions (held in memory of his late brother, David).

The crowd is hot for this one and Gordy is great here. Just an ass kicker who also takes some great bumps for Kerry.

Von Erich would make 12 defenses of the title before losing it in a rematch against Flair in Japan on May 24. Gordy was the only member of The Fabulous Freebirds to get a shot at Von Erich’s title (the two would square off again the next night in Oklahoma). Very fun match!
