2023 PMTM Holiday Viewing Guide – December 16

Boo on Larry Z (Early 1980s)

Buddy, I LOVE when professional wrestlers attempt to sing.

Pro wrestling has given us many wonderful musical moments over the years (I’ve already given you Ricky Morton’s attempt and there may very well be more to come in this Holiday Viewing Guide), but none make me as happy as this one:

Sometime in the early 1980s, Larry Zbyszko recorded and released his absolutely AMAZING “Boo on Me” 45 single.

Tracking down exactly when this was released is a little tricky. I’ve seen both 1980 and ‘82 referenced online. A post on this WrestlingClassics message board thread from 2001 notes it was recorded between the end of his WWF run in late 1981 and the beginning of his Georgia Championship Wrestling run in the spring of 1983. So, 1982 checks out there.

I love this song with all my heart. It’s got a certain charm thanks to the absolute absurdity of it. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard anyone else use the term “boo on me” instead of just “boo me,” either. Listen, enjoy and thank me later.
