We return to Memphis for this gem, as Billy Joe Travis gets led away from the WMC-TV studio in handcuffs on live television during the dying days of the USWA.

Apparently, ol’ Billy Joe fell behind on child support payments and deputies from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office knew just where to find him. Jerry Lawler confirms this in a clip from his old podcast below

According to Lawler, he tried to get the deputies to wait until the show was over. When they wouldn’t budge, he decided to film it and spin it into an angle. Rasslin’ bullshit at its finest. Billy even cut a promo about it the next week on TV.
